  NEW ROSS & THE SCENIC HOOK PENINSULA

New Ross, to the south of County Wexford is built on the River Barrow and is probably most famously known as the birthplace of the great-grandfather of the late US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The memory of the late president is kept very much alive in New Ross and you can visit many interesting locations dedicated to his memory, The family homestead itself at Dunganstown, The JFK Arboretum and the JFK Dunbrody Famine Ship amongst them.  The Scenic Hook Peninsula on the south coast of Wexford offers some of the most stunning scenery in the country, a wild rocky coast in places and stunning golden beaches in others. Hook Lighthouse itself is one of the oldest operational lighthouses in the world. This area is also home to the ruins of two Cistercian Abbeys, Tintern Abbey and Dunbrody Abbey and is steeped in history and heritage.
